The more heat exchangers are used, the more fouling and scaling build up there is on the tube and shell side of the bundle. This build up can harm and compromise the results of heat transfers, so it’s very important that it is cleaned routinely.

Heat exchanger cleaning is required because with the fouling and scale build up, a proper inspection may be prevented. This is an important part of procedures, so it’s important that the machinery is properly maintained. In this video, we can see the process of cleaning a heat exchanger. The worker will wear protective rain gear and a face shield to keep themselves safe from any backsplash. They will normally use a power washer and hose to clean the entire machine.
